Fix My Street - the US version
There is a working version already in the UK but nothing I know of here in the US. It's a way to report potholes, street lamps out, signs damaged, etc.
A good community based project that allow citizens voices to be heard...and forces governments to react.

I could see insurance companies as advertisers - less money they have to pay out. News channels/papers could purchase the data for generating reports on neglected areas and the reasons why. If all else fails this could be a not for profit type of company susidized by the government or some other charitable organization.

It could potentially be sold as a service to local governments?

Great idea. I'm not sure it would make a great company...
1. How would this make money?
2. What would stop a big player with maps--like, say, Google--from jumping in later? Here's a marketing idea... "You know the street in front of your alderman's house is perfect. How about the street in front of your house?"
