The problem:
The social networking / Web2.0 services world might be intimidating for someone who has no personal presence on the Web (your grandma), or maybe just has a meager Facebook or MySpace page. FriendFeed and others do a good job of managing the diverse services/accounts, but you still have to create accounts and set up your profiles individually. You may not know what accounts you need or want (do I need a Twitter account?) or what each service does differently (e.g. digg vs. delicious vs. stumbleupon). You ask newbie questions like, how do I get a blog up and running? which blog site is the best?

And seriously, there are a ton of services out there:

The solution:
The idea is to have a wizard-like portal that guides a newbie through creating his/her Web presence. You learn a little bit about the user, what they want to do (write a blog, share pictures, post status updates, all of the above) and you create the right accounts for them and give them little demos. The key is to make it uber user-friendly. At the end it can direct them to sites like FriendFeed et. al. for managing the variety of accounts the wizard just created for them.

I'll admit, I have no idea how to monetize this. You probably don't want ads because that would distract the user during the process (maybe they'd be ok at the end). I suppose you could charge $1 for the service and people might pay it (at the end). Dunno.

My bad if this already exists somewhere (please share!) Thoughts?

Breast cancer not only impacts mother, daughters or sisters but it also affect the family. The emotional distress can be quite over bearing that the daily routine is somehow dulled. I have personally been informed friends and relatives of cancer patients occasionally offer large meals to share as a comfort mechanism. This site is to coordinate the effort to prevent too many meals or too little meals arriving at a time. It can also detail the foods family members likes and dislikes.

The original idea was designed as a volunteer service, but revenue could be generated by ads or for pay-for-meal services for those individuals who live incredibly long distances or too lazy to cook themselves.

There are lots of players in local search including Google, Yahoo and MSN.

How can you compete with these?

Easy...make every click count.

Step 1 - Build a business model around premium memberships for local companies or an ad-revenue model.

Step 2 - Collect as much information about every business as possible, by creating power-users that provide content.

Step 3 - Encourage users to create an account to save their preferences and make life simpler (i.e. home address, cell phone #, etc). When they create their profile they also pick a charity they want to support.

Step 4 - As users navigate the site and generate revenue from the advertisers the money is donated to their favorite charity.

Here is an example:
When John Doe visits the site...he logs in. His charity is Habitat for Humanity. As he browses the site the monies from the ad revenue are added to a running total for a monthly disbursement to Habitat. He gets his information and helps a good cause.

Other users can see how much John is responsible for donating and how much each charity will get.

The business model: If a user is not logged in the ad revenues go to the startup company. This should encourage them to sign in to help their cause.

Thoughts?

This is an alarm that gets triggered based on time and location. This can be easily implemented on a GPS capable cellphone.

Let's say you want to take a nap in the train, and you are sleepy and want to wake up when you are 10 miles away from your destination. Set a GPS position based alarm that will ring when the train reaches the pervious station.

Or lets say you ran out of milk at home, and you are about to go to a party. You want to stop by at a gas station on the way back, and get some milk. You can set a GPS position alarm that will ring when you pass through Schaumburg, IL after 10PM. If you don't have a GPS alarm, you can probably set a normal alarm at 10 PM, and you might still be at the party, and your alarm goes off "BUY MILK". That doesn't sound very useful

MiSuGo (Pronounced Me-Sue-Go) loosely translated is "Mine, Yours, Go" and is a social sharing website for trading rooms or homes for travel purposes, however, it can be expanded to share just about anything.

Many of us have guest rooms that go unused 99% of the time so why not put them to good use by making them a MiSuGo room. Users setup free accounts and get a set number of credits when they setup their MiSuGo room for use by other users. These credits are used to book free nights (with owners approval) for other MiSuGo rooms in other cities, towns and countries around the world. After the stay the owner and visitor rate each other via an eBay style feedback system which can influence the number of credits one acquires. In other words, if you setup a really nice room or house then you can charge more credits and in turn get a nicer room and or house for your vacation, etc.

Revenues can be generated by advertising, selling real estate related products (programmable lock boxes for keys) and insurance products.
